How to Celebrate Summer with GLBC
As beer garden doors and patios open for the summer, our hearts (and taps) do too. Here are some of our favorite places to enjoy the sunshine we've been waiting for all year with a refreshingly crafted Great Lakes brew, both in Cleveland and beyond.
See the full list of venues here.
MVP on the Field, and in the Fridge
It's the season of sun-soaked sports, and we've got your back wherever you're rooting on the team. While the pitcher warms up at Lake Erie Crushers Stadium in Avon, you can keep it chill with a Midwest IPA fresh from the tap. You can also enjoy the golden goodness of Midwest Nice at the home of the Lakeshore Chinooks, namely, Kapco Park in Wisconsin. Or, catch a game at Huntington Park in Columbus and have a sip while the Clippers rock the ship.
If you're Northeast Ohio based, be sure to try the limited Rally Drum Premium Lager during your next Cleveland Guardians game. It’s so refreshing, the only reason you'll want to put it down is to catch a fly ball, or snap a pic of victory fireworks. There are various spots within the ballpark where you can grab GLBC beer on tap or in cans; check out our blog for a full list of where we're located within Progressive Field.
From outfield to end zone, Great Lakes will always be your most valuable pint. Catch us at every Cleveland Browns home game, keeping your lineup fresh with our Joe Thomas collaboration seasonal 73 Kolsch and a variety of other classic beverages from our roster. (Or crack one open from your favorite recliner at home.)
If you've been to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse for a Cleveland Cavaliers game or concert, you've probably seen us! As the Official Craft Beer of the Cleveland Cavaliers, we make sure to have your favorite cans at grab & go stands, vendors, clubs, and suites for select events all year-round, and our beer on tap throughout the FieldHouse. Stop by the Great Lakes Experience, located outside of Portal 17, for a wide variety of year-round, seasonal, and FieldHouse Exclusive brews on tap.
Rock with Us
No matter your music taste, Cleveland's got a banger lineup of concerts to look forward to this summer. Starting on July 19, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame commences its summer series, Rock Hall Live, featuring five headliners you won't want to miss. Even better, their free Live and Local Series runs July 11 through August 29, highlighting the best musical talent that Northeast Ohio has to offer. Grab a locally brewed Great Lakes beverage that fits the mood and rock on, or sip after moseying through the museum's exhibits and music history.
The Agora also has an impressive field of performers, from comedy to country and everything in between. Stop in for a show and get yourself a fresh pint of Midwest IPA on tap.
If outdoor concerts are your jam, there are plenty of amazing venues to enjoy. What could be better than a tune and a brew under the stars at Blossom Music Center? Stock up for your parking lot tailgate with our Gimme Five! Variety Pack or Hop Madness IPA Variety Pack, or kick back in your lawn chair with 19.2 ounces of refreshing Juicy Vibacious Double IPA.
To the west, we're sponsoring Ohio’s highest attended outdoor concert series, Lorain's Rockin' on the River! Appreciate a GLBC classic like Dortmunder Gold Lager while listening to the hits of classic bands on select summer Friday nights.
Plan your visit to Cleveland's ever-entertaining Playhouse Square for an off-Broadway buzz. Here you'll find a variety of shows to choose from this summer season, including the hit musical In the Heights. Broadway, comedy, drag, ballet, you name it—there’s a GLBC beer to match every tempo.
We’re Everywhere!
Looking to venture out of The Land for an excursion? Or maybe you're just trying to find Cleveland's finest beer where you reside. Don't worry, you can still count on a cold Great Lakes brew to await you at summer venues and events, even across state lines.
If you're a pickle fanatic, Picklesburgh is a MUST. Located in (you guessed it) Pittsburgh, PA, you'll be able to try an exclusive pickle-infused Great Lakes beer, made specially for the event. Find a less briny Great Lakes beer on tap too while you enjoy more pickled creations than you ever knew existed, July 18 - 21.
While you're expanding your palate, why not check out Great Taste of the Midwest? Overlooking the beautiful Lake Monona, this annual festival held in Madison, WI is one of the longest-running craft beer celebrations in the country. Make the trip on August 10 for local food vendors, live music, and LOTS of delicious beer- including a special annual collaboration between us and our friends at Lakefront Brewery.
Supercharge your summer nightlife by checking out Electric City, a music and comedy venue located in Buffalo, NY. Grab some buffalo-style wings and pair them with a 19.2 oz. can of Vibacious Double IPA or its Juicy counterpart.
Make a day of family fun and visit the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden. You'll meet the famous Fiona, a young hippo who garnered national attention for her story of survival. When you need some shade, cool off at the zoo's beer garden and refresh yourself with some Great Lakes beer. Or, if thrill-seeking is more your speed, cruise up the lake to Cedar Point amusement park. Whether you're a diehard rider or a hold-the-bags relaxer, you can enjoy a GLBC beverage at several locations throughout the park including our summer seasonals Mexican Lager with Lime and Strawberry Pineapple Wheat.
We’re in the Air!
For those jet-setting summer adventurers, we’re happy to pour the “flight before the flight” at the Great Lakes Brewing Co. bar in Concourse C at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. This brewpub-inspired location features a full food menu and a variety of fresh year-round and seasonal Great Lakes brews on tap so you can relax, sate your appetite, and delight your palate during that pesky layover. And for your Cleveland ex-pat family and friends begging you to bring a taste of their favorite Great Lakes beer, ask your bartender about grabbing a 6-Pack to go (just remember, you are not permitted to consume to-go beer on your flight!)
Cleveland Classics
As summer comes to a close, don't miss one of our favorite festivals, Cleveland Oktoberfest, from August 30 - September 2 and September 6 - 7. Throughout the fairgrounds, you'll find a variety of our beers on tap, including the uber-smooth Oktoberfest, which is as vibrant as the party itself. We're sponsoring both weekends' festivities, as well as the Great Lakes 5K Run & One Mile Walk Benefiting Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital, so you can say farewell to summer by contributing to a good cause.
Of course, our iconic Ohio City brewpub is the place to be for Midwest comfort fare, featuring fresh locally sourced seasonal ingredients all summer long (and beyond). Grab a seat overlooking Market Avenue on our dog-friendly patio, or bring all your friends to our lively beer garden to enjoy a pub-exclusive pint. Want to learn more about our history and charm? We’ve got you covered with our Public Brewery Tours, where you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look (and taste) of what we’re all about. To learn more about the liquid itself, you can boost your beer knowledge by taking a Hop College course, led by our very own Cicerone® certified staff. We also have Trivia Night every Thursday from 7-9 pm, and live music every Friday from 6-9 pm during our Summer Music Series, so you’re never without some fun on a summer night. Make your reservation here.
